“Raising Dion” Gets Second Season Order from Netflix

Ja'Siah Young in "Raising Dion"

One of Netflix’s 10 most popular series in 2019 has been renewed for a second season.

The streaming platform announced the news of the renewal of Raising Dion via a moving video with Senegalese painter Bou Bou painting a picture of the series’ leads Alisha Wainwright and Ja’Siah Young.

Carole Barbee, the showrunner of the first season, is set to return for the second season, along with Michael B. Jordan, who had a role in the first season and will now executive produce with Kenny Goodman, Kim Roth, Dennis Liu, and Charles D. King’s MACRO.

Raising Dion is about the pressures faced by single-mom Nicole (Wainwright) raising her son Dion (Young) after her husband Mark (Jordan) passes away. Raising Dion alone is not easy, especially when he starts to have super-hero abilities. With the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), Nicole must keep Dion’s powers a secret to protect him from evil threats.

In addition to making it onto Netflix’s 10 most popular 2019 series, Raising Dion was also the most popular kids and family series.
