“Roseanne” spin-off “The Conners” is coming to ABC

There’s been a lot of rumors surrounding the future of Roseanne ever since ABC fired its leading lady after her controversial tirade on Twitter. The cast of the hit sitcom will reunite on the set of new spin-off The Conners, but without Roseanne Barr.

Roseanne revival aired on ABC in March this year, but its success was short-lived. The network decided to cancel the show after Barr’s racist remarks about Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett shook the world. Fans felt it’s unfair to fire the whole cast and crew because of wrongdoings of a single individual. It seems ABC took their complaints very seriously, and they’re giving them what they wanted. The 10-episode spin-off called The Conners is scheduled to premiere this fall. Supporting characters will finally get a chance to shine without Roseanne anywhere in sight.

“The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter, and love. The spin-off will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago,” ABC officials said in a statement.

Barr stated she supports this decision because it means that “200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved.” She also regrets circumstances that led to her removal from Roseanne but wishes the best to everyone involved.
