Ryan Gosling is one of those actors who always give us their best, but he’s really shooting for the Moon with his next project.

The trailer for his new movie First Man where he’ll be playing iconic astronaut Neil Armstrong, came out today and it’s too early to make predictions, but experts are suggesting he could get another Oscar nomination for this promising biopic.

First Man marks a reunion between Gosling and his La La Land director Damien Chazelle. Their first collaboration was a smash hit and the Oscar-winning filmmaker immediately knew Ryan is the one who should play the first person to ever set foot on the Moon. Judging by the trailer alone, it seems he made the right choice. Gosling brings gravitas to the role and looks incredibly intense as he gets ready for a turbulent journey into space.

the collaboration between Gosling and Chazelle isn’t the only reason why First Man shows promise. It’s also written by Josh Singer, who won the Oscar for the Best Original Screenplay for his work on Spotlight.

The ensemble cast is filled with respectful actors, including Golden Globe winner Claire Foy who plays Armstrong’s wife Janet. First Man will premiere on October 12, just in time to create enough Oscar buzz. Will it be one small step for Gosling that leads him to dozens of shiny statues? Let’s wait and see!
