We’ve seen many beloved 90s classics return for a sequel in recent years, and Practical Magic is the next one in line. Warner Bros. is plotting the sequel of the hit fantasy drama, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in talks to return as the Owens sisters.
Based on Alice Hoffman’s novel of the same name, the original film centered on Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who come from a long line of witches. They were raised by their aunts after being orphaned at a young age and struggled with their powers and a family curse that threatened to prevent them from ever finding lasting love.
Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman led the cast of Practical Magic, and they’re in talks to return for its sequel. The original film also starred Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Aidan Quinn, Goran Višnjić, Caprice Benedetti, and Evan Rachel Wood.
Akiva Goldsman is returning to pen the script for the sequel after co-writing the original film alongside Robin Swicord and Adam Brooks. Denise Di Novi is also returning as a producer, with Bullock and Kidman also expected to be credited as producers. Plot details are being kept under wraps, and it remains unclear if it would center on Sally and Gillian or a new generation of Owens witches.
