“Selena: The Series” Gets Trailer & Release Date

The biographical drama about Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla, Selena: The Series, has been set for a December 4 release date and it received a teaser trailer.

The Walking Dead star Christian Serratos will play the late singer, who was shot and killed on March 31, 1995, days before her 24th birthday.

The Netflix series will follow Selena’s childhood and rise to fame as well as the life choices she and her family had to make to further her music career.

In the black and white teaser, we see Selena take the stage and sing “Como La Flor” with her father, Abraham Quintanilla (Ricardo Chavira), narrating in the background.

“Do you trust your father? If you keep practicing, it’s all gonna pay off. Just watch,” he says. “And when I see you on that stage, I still the six-year-old girl singing in our backyard.”

The series is created and executive produced by Moisés Zamora. The other cast members include Madison Taylor Baez as a young Selena, Seidy Lopez as her mother Marcella Quintanilla, Gabriel Chavarria as her brother A.B. Quintanilla, and Noemi Gonzalez as her sister Suzette Quintanilla. Julio Macias, Jesse Posey, Hunter Reese Pena, Carlos Alfredo Jr., Paul Rodriguez, Erika Buenfil, and David Fernandez Jr. are set as regulars.
