“Shrill” Renewed for Season 3 at Hulu

Aidy Bryant and Lolly Adefope in "Shrill"

The streamer has renewed its comedy series Shrill.

Multiple outlets confirm that Hulu has ordered an eight-episode third season of the series based on the book Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West. The third season’s episode count is similar to the second, while the first season was just six episodes.

Shrill was co-created by Aidy Bryant and Ali Rushfield. Bryant also stars as protagonist Annie, a fat young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body. Annie tried to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss. After facing her demons — her mom, her boss and her online troll — Annie started season two feeling pretty good with boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones) by her side. That is, until she realized that hastily quitting her job and jumping into a relationship with someone who is a little less career-focused may not have been the best idea.

News of Shrill’s renewal comes just over two months after the launch of season 2 on Hulu.
