Supernatural Horror Film “Umma” Casts Sandra Oh

Sony Pictures’ Stage 6 Films has acquired worldwide rights to Raimi Productions and Starlight Media’s supernatural horror film Umma with Sandra Oh set to star and executive produce.

Joining the Golden Globe winner are Fivel Stewart, Dermot Mulroney, Odeya Rush, MeeWha Alana Lee, and Tom Yi.

Umma is written by Iris K. Shim, who will also make her feature film directing debut. Umma means mother in Korean and the film will follow Amanda (Oh) and her daughter, who live on an American farm, but after the remains of her estranged mother arrive from Korea, Amanda starts being haunted by the fear of turning into her mother.

Oh currently stars in BBC America’s Killing Eve, a role which she won a Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and three Emmy nominations for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The actress is also known for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang in the ABC series Grey’s Anatomy, for which she won a Golden Globe and SAG award for.
