Pedro Pascal said that “there is nothing but tension and distance between the two of them” after the five-year time jump, adding that there would be “a really interesting and heartbreaking unraveling as to why.”

]]>The Last of Us centers on a hardened survivor Joel (Pedro Pascal), who embarks on a harrowing journey across pandemic-stricken America after being tasked to smuggle a teenage girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of the quarantine zone.
In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, the series also stars Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, and Storm Reid. It’s based on Naughty Dog’s award-winning video game of the same name.
The game’s author Neil Druckmann co-created its TV adaptation alongside Craig Mazin, who thanked Druckmann, HBO, and millions of people who have joined them on this journey following the show’s renewal.
“The audience has given us the chance to continue, and as a fan of the characters and world Neil and Naughty Dog created, I couldn’t be more ready to dive back in,” said Mazin in a statement.
The Last of Us premiered on HBO on January 15, and its pilot was watched by 4.7 million viewers on the first day, scoring the second-biggest HBO debut since 2010, behind House of the Dragon.
