Netflix Drops First Teaser for Bradley Cooper’s Oscar Hopeful “Maestro”

The follow-up to Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut A Star Is Born was a long time coming, but we won’t have to wait for it much longer. Netflix dropped the first teaser for Maestro, which chronicles the life of the iconic West Side Story composer Leonard Bernstein.

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, this high-profile biopic will reflect on a towering and fearless love story between Bernstein and his wife and actress Felicia Montealegre. They spent three decades by each other’s side and stuck together through many ups and downs.

The streamer also described this film as “a love letter to life and art” and “an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.” In addition to portraying the titular role, Cooper also directed and produced this film and co-wrote the script with the Oscar winner Josh Singer.

Maestro is led by Cooper and Carey Mulligan, while its supporting cast includes Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor.

Maestro will have its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival next month, where it will be in the running for the prestigious Golden Lion. It’s scheduled for a limited theatrical release on November 22, before hitting Netflix on December 20.

2023 Venice Lineup Includes Films By David Fincher, Ava DuVernay, Bradley Cooper, and More

After a lot of anticipation, the Venice International Film Festival unveiled its full lineup for this year—and it was worth the wait! Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, David Fincher’s The Killer, and Ava DuVernay’s Origin are only some of the high-profile projects set to premiere in Venice this summer.

The festival’s impressive lineup will also include Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, Michael Mann’s Ferrari, and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, while Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is expected to premiere out of the competition. Comandante, directed by Edoardo De Angelis, will open the festival after Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers pulled out of the festival due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

Artistic director Alberto Barbera said that members of SAG won’t be present in Venice, but added that the overall impact of the strike on the festival will be “quite modest.”

“We will have, however, actors and actresses who have worked in productions that are fully independent and they are numerous in Venice, so we hope the red carpet won’t be so empty as some people have announced in the last few days,” said Barbera.

The 80th Venice International Film Festival will take place in Venice, Italy between August 30 and September 9, with Damien Chazelle presiding over the jury.

Carey Mulligan Joins Bradley Cooper in Leonard Bernstein Biopic “Maestro”

Bradley Cooper is currently busy developing Leonard Bernstein’s biopic Maestro for Netflix, and he found the perfect on-screen partner to join him in this project. The Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan has been cast in the role of Felicia Bernstein, the wife of the legendary composer.

Maestro will serve as the follow-up to Cooper’s directorial debut A Star is Born, and he spent the past three years developing the project with Bernstein’s family. He wrote the script alongside Josh Singer, and he’s happy to welcome Mulligan on board.

“I was struck by Carey ever since I saw her on stage many years ago and I haven’t missed a performance of hers since. I am humbled to be working with such a mammoth talent, as well as such a kind person in Carey,” said Cooper in a statement.

Maestro will also star Jeremy Strong, who picked up an Emmy for his performance in Succession just a few days ago. Shooting will start next spring, and the movie is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2021.

An Extended Version of “A Star is Born” is Being Released

We’re all set to return to the sha-la-la-lows!

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s stunning performance at the Oscars made us wish that we could watch A Star Is Born all over again — and it appears we’re not the only ones.

Warner Bros. has decided to release the Academy Award-winning film back into cinemas for a week starting on the 1st of March.

The re-release will also include even more magical moments as it will be 12 minutes longer than the original. The additional scenes will include a brand new never-before-heard song Clover, as well as extended performances of Black Eyes, Alibi, and the parking lot version of Shallow which started it all.

Warner Bros. will be looking to improve on its box office earnings for the film which has already managed to gross $211 million domestically and over $425 million worldwide.

The 2018 version of A Star Is Born earned 8 Oscar nominations, winning Best Original Song for Shallow.

Bradley Cooper and Alfonso Cuarón Make History at the BAFTAs

History has been made at this year’s BAFTA Awards.

The British film awards honor the best in the industry both internationally and the United Kingdom, making it the equivalent of Great Britain’s Academy Awards.

Nominations for the ceremony were announced on Wednesday, with British film The Favorite leading the pack with 12 nods.

The stars of the film — Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, and Rachel Weisz — received individual recognition, while the picture itself was nominated for Best Film, Best British Film, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Director, among others.

A Star Is Born director Bradley Cooper achieved an impressive feat with the film’s 7 nominations, as he because the first person nominated for producer, director, writer, actor, and composer.

The record was shared with Alfonso Cuarón whose Spanish film, Roma, also garnered 7 nominations.

The BAFTA Awards will be hosted by Joanna Lumley at London’s Royal Albert Hall on the 18th of February.

A Star is Born trailer is finally here and Lady Gaga shines in it.

Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut tells the story of a country singer who encounters a young talent, played by Lady Gaga. The singer is captivated by Gaga’s characters’ potential and wants to make her a star.

The trailer shows some aspects of the plot – the romance, great success, and the negative sides of the story.

This is the third remake of the original movie that came out in 1937, starring Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. Two remakes followed in 1954 and 1976.

The U.S. release date is set for October 5, 2018. See the trailer below.
