Trainspotting director, Danny Boyle, was set to helm Bond 25 but dropped out last month due to creative differences, leaving the fate of the project in jeopardy.

As Danny and his collaborator had penned the script, producers were also forced to find new writers for the film which will be the last starring Daniel Craig as 007.

Longtime Bond screenwriters, Neal Purvis, and Robert Wade, have now been hired to write the screenplay, while Cary Joji Fukunaga has been brought on to direct.

Fukunaga, who has previously directed season one of True Detective and Beasts of No Name starring (the possible future James Bond) Idris Elba, will be the first American to direct part of the franchise.

Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have praised Fukunaga’s “versatility and innovation”.
