Martin recently did an interview with the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and mentioned they’re probably soon stop recording new albums, but that doesn’t mean they’ll completely retire.

“Well I know I can tell you: our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that I think we will only tour. Maybe we’ll do some collaborative things but the Coldplay catalog as it were finishes then,” explained Martin.

It’s not unusual for bands with a rich catalog to take a break from recording music and commit to touring, and rumors of Coldplay’s potential hiatus have been circling around for quite some time. Taking a break in 2025 would make total sense since it would mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album Parachutes and the band’s next album would be their tenth.

Coldplay’s latest LP Music of the Spheres hit the shelves earlier this year and produced No. 1 single “My Universe” ft. BTS. They’re expected to promote it with a world tour in 2022.

The British rock group announced earlier this week that they would be releasing their eighth studio album — the first since 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams.

The reveal came in the form of a letter to the band’s fans, with the tracks subsequently released in local newspapers around the world.

With Everyday Life only due for release towards the end of next month, Coldplay has gifted fans two fresh new singles from the album that is set to be double-sided. 

The songs are entitled “Orphans” and “Arabesque,” with lead singer, Chris Martin telling Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1,“Some of it’s very personal, about real things in my life, and some of it’s about things that I see or we see, and some of it’s about trying to empathise about what other people are going through.”

Everyday Life will feature one half called Sunrise, with the other entitled Sunset.

“Every day is great and every day is terrible… It just feels kind of free. There’s so much life bursting out on the planet,” Martin said. 

The new album is out November 22^nd.
