Materialists stars Johnson as a modern-day matchmaker who became a true star of New York’s social scene after helping many people find their one true love. While attending a client’s wedding, she runs into two men who’ll reshape her future – a millionaire who seems like her perfect match (Pedro Pascal), and her imperfect struggling ex working as a waiter while trying to make it as an actor (Chris Evans).

Johnson, Evans, and Pascal will be joined by an impressive roster of supporting actors, including Zoë Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, Sawyer Spielberg, Eddie Cahill, and Fernando Belo.

Materialists is the second film of the acclaimed filmmaker Celine Song, who broke into the scene with her directorial debut Past Lives. This tender romance drama received nods for best picture and best original screenplay at the Oscars, in addition to many other prestigious accolades.

Materialists will be released in the United States on June 13 by A24 and by Sony Pictures Releasing internationally.

Fifty Shades of Grey actress, Dakota Johnson, is starring in Luca Guadagnino’s new film, Suspiria, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

The film, which also features The Grand Budapest Hotel actress, Tilda Swinton, is a remake of the 1977 movie which revolves around a world-renowned dance company.

Dakota had previously said that “[Suspiria] f—ed me up so much that I had to go to therapy.”

During a press conference in Venice, the 28-year-old clarified her remarks, saying, “First of all, I was not psychoanalyzed and I hope I never will be. I find sometimes when I work on a project and — I don’t have any shame in this — I’m a very porous person and I absorb a lot of people’s feelings. When you’re working sometimes with dark subject matter, it can stay with you and then talk to somebody really nice about it afterwards is a really nice way to move on from the project. My therapist is a really nice woman.”

She also defended the filming experience by stating, “It was the most fun and the most exhilarating and the most joyful that it could be. It’s mischievous and play[ful] and I love it more than anything. It wasn’t that this film sent me to a ward, I just have a lot of feelings.”

Suspiria will receive a limited release starting October 26, before going nationwide on November 2.
