The project was previously known as Kill Switch and production is re-starting in Detroit, with the cast and crew operating under “strict Covid-19 safety protocols” after pre-production was shut down in May. George Clooney and Sebastian Stan are no longer in talks to be in the film.

Written by Ed Solomon, No Sudden Move takes place in 1955 Detroit and centers around a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they believe to be a simple document. After their plan goes astray, they search for who hired them and the purpose of their mission, which brings them through the race-torn city that’s rapidly changing.

“The last time I shot a movie in Detroit with a great script and a great cast things worked out really well, so I’m very excited behind my mask right now,” said Soderbergh.

The project is part of a three-year deal Soderbergh signed in January with HBO and HBO Max. He previously worked on the drama Let Them All Talk with HBO Max starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest, Lucas Hedges, and Gemma Chan.

The two-time Oscar winner and Stranger Things have been tapped for guest roles on Fox’s acclaimed animated comedy.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Cate Blanchett and David Harbour will lend their voices to future episodes of The Simpsons.

Harbour is set to make an appearance in a Season 32 episode as an alternate version of Mr. Burns.

“Like Mission: Impossible, they give him a whole new body and face and voice so that this people in the plant won’t possibly recognize him,” said Simpsons executive producer Al Jean. “He’s supposed to be a blue-collar guy from another part of the plant, but everything he says is like Mr. Burns. He wants to go to karaoke and sing songs from the 1890s, but the guys don’t see through it.”

Blanchett will pop up in Springfield sooner appearing in the Season 31 finale and voicing a canine psychologist who agrees to help a depressed Santa’s Little Helper.

“She determines if there’s a trauma in his past that they have to go solve, which actually goes back to the first episode of the series,” said Jean and adding, “She sleeps in the same room with him when she brings him in for treatment. She’s very loving. But with people she’s a lot more brusque.”

Of Blanchett, he said: “As expected, she was fantastic. We’re proud to say that we got a two-time Oscar winner to talk in dog gibberish, but it really sounded like Elvish to me.”
