Lin-Manuel Miranda is once again donning his waistcoat and tails.

After two and a half years, the creator of the hit musical Hamilton is reprising his role as the show’s lead in Puerto Rico.

The multiple Tony award winner is staging a three-week residency in the territory, which is situated in the Caribbean.

Lin-Manuel himself is of Puerto Rican descent and told CBS News following the musical’s premiere on Friday, “I just love this island so much. And I just want it to be proud of me. Today Puerto Rico gave me more energy than ever in my life in that moment. I have never felt anything like that.”

Opening night was attended by talk show host Jimmy Fallon, Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, and author Ron Chernow, who penned the biography of Alexander Hamilton that inspired Lin-Manuel to write the musical.

Hamilton’s Puerto Rico residency will raise $15 million for the Flamboyan Arts Fund, which was established by the Miranda family to aid arts organisations.

Just you wait!
