Donda hit no. 1 with 309,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. following its release on August 29th. It had the largest opening week for an album released this year, breaking the record previously held by Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour which earned 295,000 units during its debut week.

In addition to having the biggest week of 2021, Donda also became West’s tenth studio album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart. He’s only one of seven artists to achieve this milestone, and he’s joining the ranks of The Beatles (19), Jay-Z (14), Bruce Springsteen (11), Barbra Streisand (11), Eminem (10), and Elvis Presley (10).

None of the albums that made the rest of the Billboard 200 chart this week came even close to the success of Donda. Halsey’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power hit no. 2 with 98,000 equivalent album units, while Olivia Rodrigo’s former no. 1 album Sour returned to no. 3 with 74,000 equivalent album units.

The rapper has dropped his latest music video on Thanksgiving, and it stars a slew of very familiar faces. In addition to Kim and Kanye’s kids, the clip also stars West’s mother-in-law Kris Kenner, and sister-in-law Kourtney Kardashian and her little ones, Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick.

“Closed on Sunday” is the fourth track off the Jesus Is king album. Per E! The gospel-inspired album’s title is a reference to the popular fast-food chain that shuts down every Sunday to abide by their founder’s Christian faith.

The 41-year-old rapper’s mom, Donda, passed away in 2007 as a result of coronary artery disease following plastic surgery, and Kanye took her death extremely hard.

And although Donda never got to meet Kanye’s 3 children — or the 4th who is on its way — she did get to meet his wife, Kim Kardashian.

The meeting occurred in 2007 as Kim and Kanye were friends before shacking up and settling down.

One of Kim’s fans shared a photo her on Twitter, prompting the 38 year old to share the story behind the image.

“Fun Fact,” Kim wrote. “In this pic I was on my way to meet Kanye for his ‘Good Life’ performance for the MTV Awards. I didn’t really know him but his people called my people lol & I was a girl in the audience at the live performance in Vegas. I met his mom Donda this same night.”

We’re sure she approved.

The hip-hop artist — who is really Atlanta actor Donald Glover — won this year’s MTV Video Music Award for Best Video with a Social Message for his song “This Is America” which brings attention to gun violence in the US.

Gambino has now released the music video for his latest track, “Feels Like Summer”.

The animated video depicts the 34-year-old calmly walking through a neighborhood while watching all of his neighbors playing during the summer, as well as stopping to have dream sequences.

The most notable feature of the clip is that all of Gambino’s neighbors are famous figures and musicians.

Prepare to spot actor Will Smith and his son Jaden, God’s Plan rapper Drake trying to catch up to fellow rapper Future, Kanye West having a moment — but former First Lady Michelle Obama on hand to console him, Oprah, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and even late icons Whitney Huston and Michael Jackson.
