]]> It’s been over a decade since NBC pulled the plug on Law & Order, but it finally became clear they made a huge mistake. The network is currently plotting Season 21 of the legendary police procedural and legal drama, with Dick Wolf and Rick Eid at the helm.

Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, announced the renewal in an official statement and described it as great news for NBC and TV fans everywhere.

“Law & Order is quite simply one of the most iconic shows in television history, and the idea of continuing its legacy and partnering with Dick on an all-new season is nothing short of exhilarating,” said Rovner.

Wolf echoed her words and called the Season 21 order a dream come true. He’s definitely not exaggerating since he fought hard to find a new home for Law & Order after NBC canceled it in 2010. This decision was quite a shocker for fans of the show since it was on the cusp of becoming the longest-running primetime drama of all time.

NBC will have a chance to right that wrong when Law & Order comes back and continues telling the stories of “the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.” The cast is yet to be announced, but some of the fan favorites are expected to make a comeback.
