Remember when Sony and Marvel announced that they would no longer be collaborating on the Spider-Man films?

It was a dark day in cinema.

After two standalone films featuring Peter Parker and others in which the character starred alongside The Avengers, Spidey would be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a result of a profit-sharing disagreement.

But, in September, it was unveiled that the two companies had decided to kiss and make up, putting their differences aside and agreeing to go ahead with a third film.

As the CEO of Disney has now revealed, Tom Holland was behind that.

Whilst on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bob Iger disclosed that the actor behind Peter Parker rang him up and asked him to resolve the issue on behalf of the fans.

“We spoke, and he basically made a — he cried on the phone,” Iger joked. “It was clear that he cared so much, and actually, we care a lot about him. So, after I got off the phone with him, I made a couple of phone calls to our team at Disney Studios, and then I decided to call the head of Sony. I said, ‘We got to figure out a way to get this done, for Tom and for the fans.’ And we did.”

Thank you, Spider-Man. We mean, Tom.

The new Avengers movie is the third one in a series that started in 2012 with The Avengers and continued in 2015 with Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Avengers: Infinity War is the 19th movie in the Marvel Studio’s franchise, which only makes this success even bigger.
