According to multiple outlets, the iconic musician has announced that he’s working on a new archival album that will feature material from the mid-to-late 1980s. The album will include live recordings from a 1986 Crazy Horse tour and unheard 1989 studio work with his Saturday Night Live band

Titled Road of Plenty, the album is eyeing a 2021 release. 

News of the archival release joins another project Young is currently working on — Homegrown, an LP shelved in 1975, which he recently decided to bring back to life. 

As part of his announcement of Road of Plenty, Young said: “It was my fault that we didn’t get together at the time and have a reunion, tour and album. I don’t even know why. It was my own fault. I should have done it. Apparently I was distracted by other things at the time. Life was moving fast, perhaps a bit too fast for me to see.”

Young has a lot happening this year with Homegrown coming June 19, Return to Greendale on July 17, The Neil Young Archives Volume 2 on August 21, the 1990 Rust Bucket gig on October 16 and the 1971 solo acoustic show Young Shakespeare on November 27.
