]]>Based on Shakespeare’s King Lear, this adaptation will star Pacino as the aging King Lear trying to divide his land among his three daughters to prevent future conflict, only to be stripped of his power and condemned to a wretched wasteland of horror and insanity after placing his trust in his malevolent older daughters.
In addition to DeBose (West Side Story), Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Lear Rex will also star Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah), Chris Messina (The Mindy Project), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), Danny Huston (The Constant Gardener), Matthew Jacobs (Bar America), Rhys Coiro (Entourage), and Stephen Dorff (True Detective).
Bernard Rose serves as writer and director of this project, and he said “it is enormously exciting to get the opportunity to work with this extraordinary cast that Al [Pacino}, Barry [Navidi], and Sharon [Howard-Field] have put together to tackle this radical, but accessible adaptation of Shakespeare’s greatest play.”

]]>The 49-year-old last month concluded filming on the final season of Game of Thrones after having portrayed the role of Tyrion Lannister for the last 8 years.
According to Variety, the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actor has signed on to star in Sony’s adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin.
The Brothers Grimm tale follows a miller who lies to the king, telling him that his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king then calls for the girl, shuts her in a tower room filled with straw and a spinning wheel, and demands that she spin the straw into gold by morning or he will cut off her head. When she has given up all hope, an imp-like creature (Rumpelstiltskin) appears in the room and spins the straw into gold in exchange for a piece of jewelry. The feat is repeated several more times until Rumpelstiltskin demands that she promise him her first-born child.
The script for the film is being penned by A Monster Calls screenwriter, Patrick Ness, and will be produced by Dinklage.
There is no word yet on when production will begin, though we expect it to be after winter has come…
