]]>According to Deadline, Netflix is in the early stages of putting together a back-to-back shoot for two Red Notice follow-ups. They’re eyeing early 2023 for the beginning of the shoot, but it all comes down to the schedule of its stars Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds, all expected to come back.
Deadline also reports they’re planning to add new characters to the mix and create a heist-film ensemble in the vein of the start-studded Ocean’s Eleven franchise. Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed and wrote the first film, is also set to come back.
Red Notice followed the adventures of an FBI profiler (Johnson) who joins forces with the world’s most-wanted art thief (Reynolds) in an attempt to stop an elaborate heist by his main rival (Gadot). It was the most costly film in Netflix’s history, with an estimated budget of $200 million. It accumulated a viewership of 364.02 million hours in its first 28 days of release, making it Netflix’s most-watched original movie so far.

]]>The movie is an action-comedy and will star Johnson alongside Wonder Woman’s Gal Godot and Deadpool‘s Ryan Reynolds. The movie is written and directed by Skyscraper writer and director Rawson Marshall Thurber.
Filming began earlier this year but was put on halt due to the coronavirus. Now, the project is back up and running and we even have a new image of Johnson on set. The photo is of Johnson next to Thurber in an art warehouse.
Johnson wrote in the caption: “The world has changed and so has our proces—we are officially back to work on filming RED NOTICE. A very productive first week back of work, but certainly not without some angst and anxiety, but overall our incredible crew remained focused, disciplined, and executed brilliantly all week long. We have implemented the most aggressive health and safety COVID measures in all of Hollywood, but as I shared with our crew yesterday, we’re all still in beta phase with no ‘COVID playbook’ to reference.
“We’re an agile crew—learning on the go and we will create the blueprint for how effective a large scale production can operate during a pandemic. Proud to go shoulder to shoulder with our entire crew on this game-changer.
He added: “In the mean time I’ll continue to screw up my lines and pretend to listen to my director/writer here @rawsonthurber as he shows me my firing target.”
