The Morning Show became one of Apple’s flagship shows since its premiere in 2019 and received a lot of acclaim for its subject matter. It explored the aftermath of the #MeToo movement through the lens of anchors and crew of a popular morning news program.

Aniston and Witherspoon are currently in talks with Apple to renew their contracts as the show’s stars and executive producers. Deadline reports they’re expected to sign after figuring out the scheduling, adding “there’s also an option for a season five.”

Steve Carell left the series at the end of the previous season, but supporting players Mark Duplass, Billy Crudup, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, and Desean Terry are most likely returning. Season 3 will also feature several fresh faces, with Jon Hamm, Stephen Fry, Tig Notaro, and Nicole Beharie joining the cast.

Season 3 of The Morning Show still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to premiere later this fall after production wrapped up back in February.

The streaming giant has signed the actress to star in two upcoming films titled Your Place or Mine and The Cactus. Witherspoon will also produce the projects through her Hello Sunshine company. 

Your Place Or Mine will mark the feature directorial debut of Aline Brosh McKenna, who also penned the script. The film centers on two long-distance best friends who change each other’s lives when one decides to pursue a lifelong dream and the other volunteers to keep an eye on the friend’s teenage son.

The Cactus is based on Sarah Haywood’s novel of the same name. It focuses on a woman’s unexpected pregnancy at 45 years old, causing her to rethink the structured life she has created for herself. She then goes on an unconventional journey toward love, family and learning to embrace the unexpected.

Witherspoon most recently starred on The Morning Show and on Little Fires Everywhere.

It’s a good thing Witherspoon caught up with her friend Jennifer Lopez because it’s thanks to her 12-year-old twins Emme and Max that the conversation turned to the film. 

“Oh, my god, we watched Legally Blonde the other day,” Jennifer said. “Literally, like, four days ago. Oh, my god, I forgot—I can’t believe I didn’t tell you. They loved it. Loved it. It was so much fun. You were so amazing in that. It’s so great. And then, my daughter’s like, ‘I want to know what happens to her.’ And I said, ‘There’s a 2 and a 3, I believe.’”

Enter Reese who said, “Well, no, there’s a 2 but I’m thinking we might be working on a 3.”

“You should. You should,” Lopez insisted. “That character was so amazing and so empowering and inspiring. Yeah, it’s great for girls.”

The first look at Quibi’s upcoming nature documentary series Fierce Queens is finally here. The clip was unveiled Sunday on International Women’s Day.

On board the BBC Studios Natural History Unit-produced series is another fierce queen — Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon will serve as narrator on the documentary series that will feature nature’s female animals “who give new meaning to Eat Prey Love.”

Quibi, the quick-bite format platform, will launch April 6th.

The story follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives. It stars Kerry Washington as Mia Warren and Reese Witherspoon as Elena Richardson. The two are also executive producers on the show. 

“We had been looking for a project to do with Kerry for a long time,” Witherspoon said at the Television Critics Association presentation on Friday. “When I read the book, it just had so many themes that were very complex, and I knew whoever was going to be my partner… who was going to show up to do the work, because it’s a lot of work. The first person who I thought was perfect was Kerry. She deepens the conversation and I knew I wanted to go on this journey with her. It just made sense that we were representing completely different kinds of women and different kinds of mothering but both with dignity and respect.”

Little Fires Everywhere debuts March 18th on Hulu.
