]]>Saturday Night is based on a true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live in 1975. It centers on “a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever”, giving us the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t.
Saturday Night will feature a star-studded ensemble cast led by Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, plus Rachel Sennott, Cory Michael Smith, Ella Hunt, Dylan O’Brien, Emily Fairn, Matt Wood, Lamorne Morris, Kim Matula, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Braun, Cooper Hoffman, Andrew Barth Feldman, Kaia Gerber, Tommy Dewey, Willem Dafoe, Matthew Rhys, and J. K. Simmons in supporting roles.
Jason Reitman directed the film and co-wrote the script alongside Gil Kenan, and they’re both producing it alongside Jason Blumenfeld and Peter Rice. Saturday Night will be released by Sony Pictures on October 11, which marks the 49th anniversary of the iconic NBC show.
