]]>Shang-Chi and Spider-Man are both competing for a total of five awards, including the best superhero movie. The list of major nominees at this ceremony also includes Don’t Look Up, The Harder They Fall, No Time to Die, and The Suicide Squad with four nominations each.
The TV categories look just as colorful, with Evil and Midnight Mass leading the way with six nods each, mostly in the horror field. Marvel’s Disney+ series WandaVision and Loki are right behind with five nominations, while Netflix’s Korean drama Squid Game received four.
The Critics’ Choice Super Awards are scheduled to take place on March 17th. They were first introduced last year by the Critics’ Choice Association as a way of celebrating the most popular, fan-obsessed genres across movies and TV, including action, horror, science fiction, fantasy, and superhero projects.

]]>Simu Liu who plays the lead in the film posted the film’s poster and his superhero costume on Instagram and shortly after, Marvel released the first trailer.
This film marks the first one from Marvel featuring an Asian lead and with an Asian filmmaking team which includes director Destin Daniel Cretton and screenwriter David Callaham. Rounding out the cast are Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Ronny Chieng, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, and Florian Munteanu.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revisits Marvel villain Mandarin who appeared in Iron Man 3 and was played by Ben Kingsley. In this film, Leung will be playing Mandarin, who has mystical powers from 10 magical rings.
The trailer shows Shang-Chi trading in his life of partying and becoming a fighting machine so super dangerous people can’t kill him. He becomes an incredible fighter and he double kicks two guys that are on the bus that Awkwafina’s Katy’s riding.

]]>Black Widow was supposed to open on November 6th, but Marvel fans will have to wait for it a little bit longer. This is the second major delay of this film starring Scarlett Johansson, and it’s now set to premiere on May 7th, 2021, about a year later than originally intended.
This delay led to a complete shift of the Marvel release schedule and the postponement of several other projects. Eternals moved from February 12th, 2021 to November 5th, 2021, while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was delayed from May 7th, 2021 to July 9th, 2021.
Black Widow is expected to kick off Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Eternals and Shang-Chi will follow. Before these films hit the theaters, WandaVision is expected to premiere on Disney+ this winter, as the first original Marvel series on this platform.
