]]>Tarantino’s career has always been full of surprises, and he just made one of his most unexpected decisions yet. Despite managing to build a lot of hype for The Movie Critic, he eventually decided to scrap this project and go back to the drawing board.
Brad Pitt, who previously starred in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was supposed to star in this film set in California during the 70s. It was also rumored that several cast members from the director’s previous films would take part.
Tarantino has been plotting his potential retirement for over a decade and said he’d like to wrap things up with a 10-film filmography because he wants to leave people wanting more.
“If I get to the 10th, do a good job and don’t screw it up, well that sounds like a good way to end the old career. If, later on, I come across a good movie, I won’t do it just because I said I wouldn’t. But 10 and done, leaving them wanting more – that sounds right,” he told Deadline in 2014.
