It has been 10 years since the world was introduced to the sexy goriness that is True Blood.

The series, based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels, sees the creatures of the night living among normal people thanks to the invention of a synthetic blood branded “Tru Blood.”

In celebration of the 10-year anniversary, the pilot episode was screened at the Vulture Festival where creator Alan Ball got fans’ mouths watering with details of a rumored musical version of the show.

The idea, which was first announced by composer Nathan Barr in 2014, is currently being workshopped.

“It tells the story of vampires coming out of the closet,” Ball said. “Ultimately it really departs from the book, because people aren’t ready, and they’re too bigoted and they end up going back into the closet.”

Sounds like a bloody good production.
