Taylor Swift managed to create a lot of buzz for her new album Midnights, which hit the shelves this past Friday. She celebrated its release by dropping a self-reflective music video for “Anti-Hero”, which shows her facing her insecurities head-on.

Swift’s self-directed video for “Anti-Hero” hit the shelves on October 21, together with the rest of the album. The music video for this record took us on a journey through her past, present, and future, and even showed the singer hilariously peeking from the coffin at her own funeral, spying on her family as they fight over the inheritance.

Swift described “Anti-Hero” as one of her favorite songs she’s ever written, saying it allowed her to delve into her insecurities and explore the parts of herself that she hates and wants to come to terms with.

“Anti-Hero” is one of 13 tracks featured on the standard edition of Swift’s latest album Midnights. When she first announced it, the singer described it as a “journey through terrors and sweet dreams”, inspired by 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout her life.

Following its release on October 21, Midnights broke Amazon Music’s and Spotify’s for the most streamed album in a single day. It’s also the best-selling album of 2022 with over 800,000 units sold in just one day, according to Billboard.
