Taylor Swift came into this year’s MTV VMAs as one of the favorites to take top awards home and she certainly delivered! She won the trophy for video of the year with “All Too Well” and used this moment to announce the release of her upcoming album Midnights.
Swift was one of the biggest winners at this year’s MTV VMAs, and also won awards for best longform video and best direction. The night’s most memorable moment came when she announced her next album is hitting the shelves on October 21, and later described it as “a journey through terrors and sweet dreams”.
Surprisingly enough, Swift wasn’t even the night’s biggest winner. Jack Harlow was the most-awarded artist with a total of four trophies—song of summer with “First Class”, and three more awards that he shared with Lil Nas X for their chart-topping single “Industry Baby”, including best collaboration, best art direction, and best visual effects. Harry Styles was right behind with three awards, including album of the year for Harry’s House.
MTV Video Music Awards took place on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Nicki Minaj, who collected this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, cohosted the show alongside LL Cool J and Jack Harlow.
