Taylor Swift’s new song is out and you need to calm down.

You Need to Calm Down is the title of Taylor’s latest single which was released at midnight on Thursday and is already being dubbed as one of the songs of the summer.

“I’ve observed a lot people in our society who just put so much energy and effort into negativity,” she said of “You Need to Calm Down”. “It just made me feel like, ‘You need to just calm down, you’re stressing yourself out.’ This seems like it’s more about you, than what you’re going off about.”

The song includes references to LGBTQ organisation GLAAD, Pride parades, and homophobia.

Taylor also announced the title of her upcoming album which will be her 7th.

Lover is set to drop on August 23rd, which is not just a random date. All numerical digits involved add up to 13 which is Taylor’s luck number.

“This album, in tone, it’s very romantic and not just simply thematically, like it’s all love songs or something,” she has said of Lover. “I think the idea of something being romantic, it doesn’t have to be a happy song. I think you can find romance in loneliness or sadness or going through a conflict or dealing with things in your life. I think it just kind of looks at those things with a very romantic gaze.”

It’s hard to calm down with all this excitement!
