The Croods’ is getting a sequel with the The Croods: A New Age and we’ll get to catch up with the world’s first family.

The trailer for the upcoming The Croods: A New Age starts with Emma Stone’s character, Eep, introducing her family as they search for the “perfect place to call home”. Before long, they discover a paradise that meets their needs, but there’s one small problem—a family called the Bettermans already dwell there. The Bettermans welcome the Croods and show them their “modern life”, but tensions start to arise and a new threat forces the family to work together and embrace their differences.

Stone, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, and Cloris Leachman return to voice their original roles in the Croods family. Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars) voices Dawn Betterman, and Leslie Mann and Peter Dinklage voice her parents.

The original 2013 film was about the importance of family and the sequel will focus on unity. “This film may be a crazy, epic, comedy-adventure, but at its heart, it’s about two very different families discovering that their future is brighter together,” said director Joel Crawford.

The development of the sequel has been a long process with production set for two years after the release of the first film and a November 3, 2017 release date. DreamWorks ended up announcing the film’s cancelation in November 2016 before announcing that the film was back in production in 2017.

DreamWorks’ The Croods sequel will be released on Thanksgiving, November 25, 2020.
