The Punisher’s Ben Barnes Was Pleased About the Show’s Cancellation

The Punisher‘s Ben Barnes has said that he is “honored and pleased” about the series’ cancellation.

Earlier this year, Marvel TV shows took a major hit. The Punisher became a part of a long string of Netflix superhero series to be canceled before their story had time to wrap up. While most of us mourned the loss of shows like Daredevil and Iron Fist, Barnes has revealed that the loss of The Punisher was, in fact, a pleasant surprise.

“I was not privy to the information that we wouldn’t be having a third season at that point,” Barnes told Digital Spy. “But now that I know that we weren’t going to, I’m actually really honored and pleased about that, because it makes my story complete. And I really like telling full stories.

“The TV shows that just drag on and on for 27 seasons, and you just solve a new thing every week – it’s not my cup of tea.”

Barnes also went onto explain what it is about The Punisher that he resonates with and what kind of shows he is generally drawn to.

“I like stories about people and emotions and redemption and shame and sorrow and all those kinds of things,” he explained. “I’d like to bring those human elements to all people because I think everyone has the capacity to feel everything.”

Season one and two of Marvel’s The Punisher are available on Netflix now.
