All the major award ceremonies are still many months away, but front-runners in the Oscar race are already emerging. The Capri Hollywood Awards is the latest ceremony to take place, with Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 topping the list of winners.

This political drama won the trophy for the best picture, in addition to picking up several more awards. Sacha Baron Cohen was named the best supporting actor for his role of free-spirited activist Abbie Hoffman and cemented his place as one of the front-runners for the Oscars.

When it comes to the rest of the acting categories, the list of winners also included Anthony Hopkins (best actor for The Father), Sophia Loren (best actress for The Life Ahead), and Amanda Seyfried (best supporting actress for Mank). Chloé Zhao picked up the trophy for the best director for Nomadland.

The awards were handed out during the latest edition of the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival, which has been described as a key stopping point on the road to the Academy Awards.
