Generation Z may not be familiar with records ā€” or even CDs in some cases ā€” but they are familiar with the music of the 20th century.

And thanks to modern technology, they can now enjoy those songs through streaming.

Universal Music Group has scoured streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube to determine the most-streamed song of the 20th century.

Despite record companies claiming that it was too long and would never sell due to its bizarre lyrics and operatic arrangement, Queen can feel vindicated that its classic, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” has been named the most-streamed song from the 20th century.

The 6-minute track written by Freddie Mercury in 1975 may have received a boost with audiences thanks to the 2018 film of the same name.

The song surpassed 1.6 billion streams globally, across all major streaming services, overtaking “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana.

ā€œSo the river of rock music has metamorphosed into streams! Very happy that our music is still flowing to the max!ā€ exclaimed Queen guitarist Brian May.

Any way the wind blowsā€¦
