Tommie Smith Documentary Lands At Starz, Gets Premiere Date

With Drawn Arms has landed at Starz.

The network confirmed that it acquired the rights to the documentary about Olympian Tommie Smith.

Co-directed by Glenn Kaino and Afshin ShahidiWith Drawn Arms, explores Smith’s iconic silent protest moment on the medal stand during the national anthem at the 1968 Olympic Summer Games. 

The project features with Jesse Williams, sports analyst Jemele Hill, Megan Rapinoe, Colin Kaepernick and late congressman John Lewis.

John Legend and Williams served as executive producers with Glen Zipper and Sean Stuart on board as producers.

The film was planned have its big world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It eventually opened the Hamptons film Festival which ran October 8-14.
