Music videos give our favorite songs their visual identity and some of them are as iconic as the songs themselves—if not even more. Our favorite artists went all-in when plotting their music videos throughout 2021 and gave us some pretty epic visuals including these five.
Lil Nas X – “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”
No music video since Cardi B’s “WAP” created more buzz than “Montero” and we really have to give credit to Lil Nas X for ignoring the critics and staying unapologetically himself.
The Weeknd – “Save Your Tears”
The Weeknd’s After Hours era came full-circle with the music video “Save Your Tears” and his transformation in this video was both shocking and amazing to witness.
Olivia Rodrigo – “Good 4 U”
Olivia Rodrigo gave us some of the most nostalgia-filled music videos of 2021, but none of them came even close to the fiery passion and teenage angst of the pop-punk-inspired “Good 4 U”.
Taylor Swift – “All Too Well”
Swift’s 10-minute short film “All Too Well” isn’t a music video, but an emotional roller-coaster that will take you through the ups and downs of a doomed relationship that was never meant to be.
Doja Cat ft. SZA – “Kiss Me More”
Doja Cat is one of those artists who always march to the beat of their own drum and the music video for her SZA collaboration “Kiss Me More” took us to outer space just like the rest of her last album Planet Her.
