Adam Sandler in "Uncut Gems"

Uncut Gems is officially A24’s top grossing feature.

The suspense thriller took over the No. 1 spot from the indie distributor’s previous record holder Midsommar, with $11 million, after having generated an impressive $18.8 million on its first weekend.

According to the distributor, the crime thriller follows Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), “a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.”

Uncut Gems hails from acclaimed filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie.  Lakeith Stanfield, Kevin Garnett, and Idina Menzel also star in the film.
