In honor of National Coming Out Day, 20th Century Studios released the official trailer for the film version of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is based on the real-life story of Jamie Campbell, who came out at 14 years old, and inspired the BBC Three documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 that was later adapted for the West End in 2017.

Jonathan Butterell, the show’s director, will be making his feature film debut in the film which stars newcomer Max Harwood as Jamie, a teenager who dreams of becoming a drag queen. In the trailer, Jamie announces that he plans on attending the school prom in a dress, and he faces prejudice and has to learn to be himself. Throughout it all, he’s certain that he has to be a drag queen, so he makes a drag persona and stages a drag show.

Also starring in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie are Richard E. Grant, Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, and Sharon Horgan also star. British drag performers Myra Dubois, Anna Phylactic, and Son Of A Tutu make guest appearances in the film.
