It’s been two years since Zayn dropped his latest album Icarus Falls and surprised us with some new solo songs, but he’s finally ready for a comeback. The music video for his new single “Better” is here, and it’s the first track he recorded on his own in almost two years.

The atmospheric video, directed by Ryan Hope, shows the singer inside a bleak, lonely room, putting on a white button-down shirt and a blue suit as he sings about love and heartbreak. His tattoos are on full display and he’s also seen showing off his newly dyed red hair.

Zayn shared this music video with the world only a few days after announcing the birth of his baby daughter with the partner Gigi Hadid. “Better” is expected to be featured on his third studio album, which he previously described as his “most personal project to date”.

The former One Direction singer hasn’t released any new songs since his album Icarus Falls came out in 2018, and he’s been busy collaborating with other artists. Last year, he recorded a “Trampoline” remix with indie-pop trio Shaed, which went on to become a huge radio hit.
