Shōgun knocked it out of the park with its very first season, and its cast and crew are reaping the fruits of their labors. FX’s historical drama came into this year’s Emmy Awards with 25 nods and made history by collecting a record-breaking 18 trophies.

It was pretty clear that this Sunday was going to be an epic night for Shōgun even before the Primetime Emmy Awards rolled around. This series won 14 trophies at the Creative Arts Emmy Award and added four more to its collection at the main event, setting a new record for most wins in a single year with 18. It also became the first non-English series to be named the outstanding drama series.

The Bear made history in the comedy field with a total of 11 awards – the most for a comedy series in a single year. It collected four major awards on Sunday night, but it failed to win the coveted outstanding comedy series award, which went to Hacks this time around.

Netflix’s Baby Reindeer lived up to the hype after coming into the ceremony as one of the front-runners in the limited series field. It won the Emmy for outstanding limited or anthology series, while its stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning were honored with acting awards.

The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15, with Eugene Levy and Dan Levy sharing the hosting duties.
