After crushing the Jets 31-13, the San Francisco 49ers should have been happy leaving New York, but in the process, many key players suffered costly injuries.

The most severe of the injuries in San Francisco would be that of defense star Nick Bosa, who reportedly tore his ACL and will be out with a season ending injury. Last year, Bosa was named Defensive Rookie of the Year and he was believed to be a top candidate for Defensive Player of the Year award in 2020-2021.

Solomon Thomas, another key part of the San Francisco defensive front, who carried the team to the Super Bowl last year, suffered from the same injury and he’ll be out for the remainder of the season as well.

But, the injuries didn’t stop with the defense, San Francisco’s starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered from a high-ankle sprain which will likely cause him to miss a few weeks. Their starting running back Raheem Mostert and his backup Tevin Coleman also suffered from injuries.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that players were complaining that the turf as Metlife Stadium was sticky and that they were worried about getting injured. The league will have to take a closer look at this issue to try and solve the situation.

San Francisco will be playing the other New York team, the Giants, in the same stadium next week.
