Avril Lavigne has announced that she will be performing a live stream benefit concert to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Lyme Disease.

The concert will take place at 8 pm EST on October 24. All proceeds from tickets and merch will go toward the Global Lyme Alliance and the Avril Lavigne Foundation.

In 2015, Lavigne revealed that she had been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She spent 5 months in bed, fighting for her life. Since then, Lavigne has released an album about her battle with the disease and has become a spokesperson for Lyme Disease awareness.

Announcing the concert, Lavigne said in a statement: “I’m so excited for fans and friends from all over the world to join me and my very special guests for #FightLyme, which will benefit the Lyme community. It’s going to be an evening to remember full of hope, great music, and exciting surprises!”

Lavigne was due to go on tour earlier this year but the concert dates were postponed due to coronavirus. As it stands, she expects to return to the stage in February.
