HBO Max is pulling the plug on its revival of the ’80s sitcom Head of the Class. The reboot, which premiered in November, was canceled after just 10 episodes.

The streamer confirmed the news in a press release but the reasons for cancelation remain unknown.

The original Head of the Class ran for five seasons from 1986 to 1991. The sitcom centered around a group of gifted students attending the Individualized Honors Program at Manhattan’s Millard Fillmore High School. The show was followed by a spin-off Billy, which was canceled after season one in 1992.

The reboot, developed by Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen (Paradise PD), was officially announced in 2020. The new sitcom revolved around a new group of students attending the honors debate class at Meadows Creek High School and their teacher Alicia Gomez. It starred Isabella Gomez as the teacher with the remainder of the cast including Dior Goodjohn, Gavin Lewis, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport. Robin Givens, who starred in the original as Darlene Merriman, made an appearance as a special guest star.

“We will not be moving forward with a second season of Head of the Class,” HBO Max said in a press release. “We were grateful to work with Bill, Amy, and Seth to bring back such an iconic series, and we thank them and the terrific cast for their hard work and dedication.”

Vegas Golden Knights have won the sweepstakes for All-Star defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Considered one of the top free-agents this offseason, Pietrangelo agreed to a seven-year deal with Vegas on Monday.

According to the terms of the deal, Pietrangelo is set to earn $8.8 million per year, with a total value of the contract being $61.6 million. This will make him the fifth-priciest defenseman in the NHL.

The 30-year-old defenseman will also receive a no-movement clause as part of the agreement.

In order to clear the cap space necessary for signing Pietrangelo, Vegas parted ways with several veterans, including defenseman Nate Schmidt. However, according to general manager Kelly McCrimmon, it was the price the organization needed to pay in order to get better.

“When we looked at opportunities to improve our team, we saw a rare opportunity to add an elite player like Alex to our team,” said McCrimmon. “For us, we viewed it as a similar opportunity to when we acquired Mark Stone. Generally, these are players don’t make it to market.”

Alex Pietrangelo spent his entire career with St. Louis Blues, serving as a team captain for the last five years and leading the team on an improbable Stanley Cup title-winning run in 2019. Blues made a strong push to resign him in recent weeks, but the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement.

Reportedly, Blues offered Pietrangelo an eight-year deal, with a value north of $64 million, but were short on finer details. The player asked for a no-movement clause and signing bonuses in later years of the contract, something that the organization wasn’t willing to give him.

Pietrangelo has 758 career games in NHL with the Blues, having contributed with 109 goals and 341 assists for a total of 450 points. He has two All-Star appearances and was selected to NHL Second All-Star Team three times.

Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott currently enjoys a productive start of the new NFL season, having racked up 1,188 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and three rushing TDs in the first three weeks. Still, this isn’t translating to wins as the Cowboys are currently sitting at 1-2, and were one failed onside kick away from being 0-3.

So, how is this possible?

Well, for starters, the Cowboys’ defense hasn’t been carrying their part of the load, allowing 32 points on the average per contest. Secondly, Prescott hasn’t been taking care of the football, having turned the ball over four times in the first three weeks of the 2020 season.

Prescott himself acknowledged this in a recent chat with reporters, saying that he has to be „better with the ball“ moving forward.

“I have to be better with the ball,” said Prescott. “Receivers have to help me as well, whether it’s route discipline or … spacing or whatever it is.”

Still, Prescott doesn’t intend to slow down himself or his offense to clean up the turnover issues. Instead, he hopes the Cowboys will continue to play fast and up-tempo football.

“We want to play fast,” he added. “We want to play with tempo regardless if we’re up by a few (TDs) or the game’s tied or we’re down. It just gives us more opportunities on offense, more opportunities to create big plays, and score more points. I’d say the tempo is definitely purposeful.”

It’s good to see Dak Prescott wanting to play fast and put scores on the board, but it is hard to see the Cowboys making a meaningful run this season if they keep on getting into shootouts. However, if the Cowboys’ defense gets their act together, and Prescott stops taking risky shots, while they continue scoring at will, Dallas could emerge as an opponent no team wants to face in 2020.

The U.S. international winger Christian Pulisic is finally ready to make his season debut. After dealing with a hamstring injury over the past several weeks, Pulisic is fit again and ready to play ahead of Chelsea’s weekend duel against Crystal Palace.

Chelsea’s manager Frank Lampard confirmed the news during a press conference on Friday but added that the 22-year-old American wouldn’t play the entire game.

“Pulisic is in the squad for tomorrow,” said Lampard. “He won’t start the match because of the injury he has had. It has been a difficult injury. I’m very keen to get him back in there so it is great to have him back, for himself, and for the boost he can give the team. He is an important player for us.”

Christian Pulisic emerged as a breakthrough star for Chelsea last season, playing a crucial role in helping the team to get the UEFA Champions League spot. Pulisic played 34 games in all competitions in 2019/20, scoring 11 goals and adding 10 assists.

Pulisic’s return will give another dimension to Chelsea’s game, as the London club has been playing inconsistently to start the season. One of the reasons for this shaky start is the addition of several new players who didn’t have time to grow together due to short preseason.

Chelsea has one win in the first three games of the Premier League and has been eliminated from the English League Cup by Tottenham on Tuesday. However, they are about to have a stretch of easy games, which should give them an opportunity to get back into form.

Doc Rivers didn’t even last a week on the job market after parting ways with the Los Angeles Clippers. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Rivers agreed to become a new head coach for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rivers was contacted by the 76ers shortly after becoming available, with Philly wanting to get ahead of the rest interested teams. The two sides had engaged in negotiations in recent days and didn’t waste time hammering a deal.

Reportedly, Rivers will ink a five-year deal with the organization.

The 76ers hope that Doc Rivers will help the franchise to take the next step after they suffered disappointing early playoffs exits under Brett Brown. There is also an expectation that Rivers can get the best out of the team’s young All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons and figure out their fit on the court.

Philadelphia 76ers initially zeroed in on ex-Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni and Clippers’ assistant Ty Lue in their search. However, 76ers shifted their focus to Rivers once he became available, seeing him as the better fit for the team.

Rivers, on the other hand, received interest from several other franchises, including New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets. However, he was intrigued by the 76ers’ talented roster, history, and organization, which ended up prompting him to reject other suitors and come to Philly.

It’s never really easy writing posts like this. I’m not a big announcement type of guy lol Trying to find all the right words to say to sum up my experiences over the past decade isn’t an easy feat so I’m going to try and keep this short and sweet. Lol After 8years playing in the NFL, I’m leaving the game feeling extremely grateful and content with what I was able to accomplish out there on the field not only for myself, but my family as well. Going through some extreme highs and some extreme lows has taught me a lot about myself and by the grace of God he was able to pull me through the rough times and in the end all those experiences were all worth it. Venus Williams couldn’t move past the first obstacle on the 2020 French Open. Williams was defeated in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 by Anna Karolina Schmiedlova on Sunday, and exits the tournament in the first round.

While Williams held pretty well for most of the match, making more winners and less double faults than Schmiedlova. However, Williams had an alarming number of unforced errors, which ended up swinging the match in Schmiedlova’s favor.

Venus Williams has now exited all three Grand Slams in 2020 in the first round while recording her eight loss in nine matches she played this year. This also marked the third consecutive year in which the 40-year-old American didn’t make it past the first round on French Open.

Speaking with reporters after the match, Williams said that this was her last tournament of the year.

“I’m going home from here. I’m done. If there is somewhere to play, I won’t be there,” said Williams.

Williams was also coy about her plans for the future.

“I just stepped off the court. So even though it hasn’t been a ton of tournaments, it’s still been a very long year. So, yeah, I’m not looking forward yet,” she added.

Schmiedlova is off to another big challenge. The 26-year-old Slovakian is set to face 2020 US Open finalist Victoria Azarenka in the second round.

I want to thank my wife @marisakearse for being the incredible woman that she is. Thank you for keeping me sane during the tough times and thank you for pushing me to be a better man. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you to my family for your endless support and I love you guys so much! Thank you to all my teammates! You guys made this whole experience what it was. I had so much fun out there with you guys. I love y’all. Seattle, as a hometown kid it was a complete honor to represent you guys out there on the field. Thank you so much for your endless support throughout my football career. It was an honor to put on that Hawks uniform and I’m so grateful I was able to help bring our first Super Bowl home! Something We will never forget. I’m Looking forward to what God has planned for me in this next chapter of this thing called life but I can assure you it involves a lot of time with my family time and a lot of Golf haha see you on a course near you. THANK YOU and I love you all God Bless✌🏽

The times are a-changing at Netflix.

The streaming service has announced that its Chief Financial Officer, David Wells, will be vacated his position.

The announcement comes after it was revealed last month that stocks were down 11% and that the service had missed its subscriber growth forecast by 1 million.

In spite of this, Netflix still recorded 124 million subscribers worldwide as of the second quarter of 2018.

Wells joined Netflix in 2004 and has served as its CEO since 2010.

“It’s been 14 wonderful years at Netflix, and I’m very proud of everything we’ve accomplished,” he said in a statement “After discussing my desire to make a change with [CEO] Reed (Hastings), we agreed that with Netflix’s strong financial position and exciting growth plans, this is the right time for us to help identify the next financial leader for the company.”

Wells has confirmed that he will stay on until a replacement has been found.

So, for now, you can just (Netflix and) chill.
