“Deadpool & Wolverine” Shatters Records With $444 Global Million Opening

Deadpool & Wolverine has only been in theatres for a few days, but it’s already broken several box office records. It grossed over $444 million worldwide during its opening weekend, scoring the largest debut for an R-rated movie along the way.

Deadpool & Wolverine marked Wade Wilson’s introduction to the MCU, and it reunited him with one of his old foes/allies. Wolverine joined Deadpool on a mission to save the MCU after the Time Variance Authority pulled him back to action from his quiet and peaceful life.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman lead the cast as Deadpool & Wolverine, while Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford, Matthew Macfadyen, Brianna Hildebrand, Jennifer Garner, and Dafne Keen joined them in supporting roles.

Deadpool fans couldn’t wait to be reunited with this superhero and flocked to theaters during the opening weekend. They helped the third film in this franchise gross $211.4 million domestically, for a worldwide total of 444.3 million.

Deadpool & Wolverine smashed several records on its way to the top of the box office. In addition to scoring the highest R-rated opening of all time both worldwide and domestically, it also scored the sixth-largest domestic opening in history. Its success helped the Marvel Cinematic Universe become the highest-grossing film franchise of all time with over $30 billion grossed.
