Drake found a special way to pay tribute to his late friend and fashion designer Virgil Abloh. The “God’s Plan” singer recently got a new tattoo on his forearm that shows Abloh launching a kite.

The tattoo is a reference to a famous event from Paris Fashion Week in 2018 that saw Abloh actually launching a kite at the runway during the Louis Vuitton’s menswear show.

Drake’s new ink was done by renowned Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Joaquin Ganga, who shared the artwork on his social media profile.

“A remembrance of the great Virgil Abloh done on Drake,” Ganga captioned the photo.

Drake and Abloh were close friends with Drake referencing Abloh multiple times in his verses including the feature on Future’s track “Life Is Good.” The two also collaborated on several project together while Abloh helped Drake redesign his private jet back in 2020.

Virgil Abloh suddenly passed away in November. It was later revealed that Abloh has been battling rare form of heart cancer for the past two years. He was an influential figure in the fashion world, being lauded for his progressive and unique designs that bridged streetware and luxury.
