Guy Ritchie’s projects are always one star-studded affair, and his next series with Paramount+ will be no exception. Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan are in final negotiations to lead the star-studded cast of Ritchie’s new crime drama The Associate.
This series was initially conceived as the over-the-pond spin-off of the Showtime series Ray Donovan, but Ritchie and Ronan Bennett later decided to shift the gears and reimagined it as a standalone series. In addition to serving as its writers, they’ll also executive producing this project alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, and Ivan Atkinson.
Despite abandoning its initial concept, The Associate will still be set in the world of London’s most elite fixers. It will reportedly center on “two generations of gangsters, the businesses they run, the complex relationships they weave, and the man they call upon to fix their problems.”
Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan will lead the cast as the matriarch and patriarch of a crime family, whose reputation is put at risk. They both made a transition to television in recent years – Mirren with the Yellowstone spin-off 1923, Brosnan with AMC’s western drama The Son. As for Tom Hardy, he’ll play the fixer of the crime family at the center of this series, and this project will mark his first major TV role since Peaky Blinders.
