Guy Ritchie has two films about Sherlock Holmes under his belt, and he’s getting ready to revisit this world again. He’ll direct Amazon Prime Video’s adaptation of the Young Sherlock Holmes novels, with Hero Fiennes Tiffin playing the new version of the famous detective.
Based on Andy Lane’s series of eight Young Sherlock Holmes novels, this project is an action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective.
“Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University… Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever,” read Amazon Prime Video’s official logline.
Guy Ritchie is coming on board as a director and one of the executive producers, and he said this series will introduce us to an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know. Matthew Parkhill wrote the series for Amazon, and he’ll serve as its showrunner.
Hero Fiennes Tiffin’s casting comes shortly after he starred in Ritchie’s most recent film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He’s one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood after starring in the After series and has several more projects lined up, including the romantic comedy Picture This and survival thriller Above the Below.
