He said they decided to bring Barry’s story to a close after “a very clear ending presented itself” and described the show’s next chapter as “structurally radical in some ways.”

In addition to Hader, Barry also stars Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Michael Irby, Anthony Carrigan, and Sarah Goldberg. They’re all expected to return when Season 4 returns to HBO on April 16. It will feature a total of eight episodes, and its finale is expected to air on May 28.
