]]>Focus Features’ official logline describes Nosferatu as “a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”
Skarsgård will lead this project in the role of Count Orlok aka Nosferatu, and he went through quite a transformation to play this character, losing weight, changing his vocal range, and spending hours in the prosthetic makeup chair. He said that playing this role felt like “conjuring pure evil”, adding it took him a while to shake the demon off.
In addition to Skarsgård, the star-studded cast of Nosferatu will also include Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe.
Eggers directed the film and wrote the script, drawing inspiration from the German silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. They’re both loosely based on Bram Stoker’s beloved horror classic Dracula.
Nosferatu will be released by Focus Features on December 25.
