The new live-action reboot of Masters of the Universe is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, and Travis Knight will direct it from a screenplay by Chris Butler. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing the film and she co-wrote the script with Sam Lansky after an initial draft from Leah McKendrick. She previously collaborated with Mendes on the teen black comedy Do Revenge and directed the acclaimed Netflix rom-com Someone Great.

Sony Pictures is rebooting this horror classic, and they’re planning to release it in theatres on July 18, 2025.
