]]>The new live-action reboot of Masters of the Universe is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, and Travis Knight will direct it from a screenplay by Chris Butler. This project is still gathering its main cast and plot points are being kept under wraps, but we know it will hit the theaters on June 5, 2026.
Mendes’ casting is the latest piece of information we have about this project, and she’ll play the Captain of the Royal Guard at the palace of Eternos. Her character plays a crucial role in the journey of Prince Adam/He-Man since she’s the one responsible for training and protecting him.
Mendes is best known as the star of the CW teen drama Riverdale, and she’s been doing a great job expanding her resume since this series ended its run. She led several acclaimed films in recent years, including Netflix’s back comedy Do Revenge and Amazon Prime Video’s rom-coms Música and Upgraded.

]]>I Know What You Did Last Summer went down in history as one of the defining slashers of the 90s and helped revitalize this horror genre. It starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. as a group of young friends trying to escape a hook-wielding killer.
Several original cast members could return for the reboot, and we finally know who’ll lead the young cast. Camila Mendes (Riverdale) and Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks) have been cast in the lead roles, alongside Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Sarah Pidgeon (The Wilds), and Tyriq Withers (Tell Me Lies).
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing the film and she co-wrote the script with Sam Lansky after an initial draft from Leah McKendrick. She previously collaborated with Mendes on the teen black comedy Do Revenge and directed the acclaimed Netflix rom-com Someone Great.
Sony Pictures is rebooting this horror classic, and they’re planning to release it in theatres on July 18, 2025.
