Disney scored one of its biggest hits of 2021 with Jungle Cruise, and it was just a matter of time before they announced its follow-up. After weeks of speculation, this hit movie is officially getting a sequel, with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt set to return to their respective roles.

Jungle Cruise is based on one of the original Disneyland rides, first introduced when the theme park opened in 1955. It centers on a steamboat captain (Johnson) who leads a scientist (Blunt) and her brother down the Amazon River in search of the mythic Tree of Life.

Disney started plotting the adaptation of Jungle Cruise shortly after Pirates of the Caribbean proved that movies based on theme park attractions can draw large crowds to the theaters. After 15 years in development, this fantasy adventure film finally saw the light of day this summer and has grossed $187 million worldwide so far.

Johnson and Blunt confirmed they’re coming back for the sequel, but the return of Édgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti is not official just yet. Jaume Collet-Serra is expected to return as a director, with Michael Green writing the script.

If you needed a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down, we have just the thing!

With the release of Mary Poppins Returns just mere weeks away, Disney has now released a song from the film which is just poor delight.

Entitled Trip a Little Light Fantastic, that’s exactly what Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays Jack, does as he encourages the children in the film to dance away their fears.

Referencing the gas lamplighters called Leeries (of which he is a part), the Hamilton star sings, “If a spark can start inside your heart, then you can always find a way / So when life is getting dreary, just pretend that you’re a Leery as you trip a little fantastic with me.”

We’ll get to see how the song fits in when Miss Poppins (Emily Blunt) returns to help now-adult siblings Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) after a family tragedy.

Mary Poppins Returns hits screens on the 19th of December.

The latest trailer for Mary Poppins Returns has been released and it is positively perfect in every way!

The story takes place 25 years after Julie Andrews floated into London with her umbrella to share some of her magic with the Banks family.

And now that young Jane and Michael (played by Emily Mortimer and Ben Winshaw, respectively) are all grown up and have experienced a tragedy, Mary has returned to make sure they take a spoonful of sugar and are alright.

Understandably, Julie would not be reprising her role as the lovable nanny for which she won an Academy Award in 1964.

Instead, Miss Poppins is being delightfully portrayed by another English darling, Emily Blunt.

The rest of the cast is also quite supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, including Mamma Mia stars, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Julie Walters; Nanny McPhee actress, Angela Lansbury; and Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton.

Dick van Dyke, who starred in the original Mary Poppins, will also be making an appearance in the sequel.

Mary Poppins Returns will be in cinemas on the 19th of December.
