The post “Grey’s Anatomy” is Officially Returning for Season 21 at ABC appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>Season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy is currently airing on ABC, but it’s the show’s shortest installment to date. Its run has been reduced to 10 episodes in the face of the dual strikes in Hollywood, but things are looking better for Season 21, which will reportedly feature 18 episodes.
It’s unclear who will return for the show’s next season since ABC is yet to renew the contracts with the show’s veteran cast members. Season 20 starred Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, and Kim Raver, plus the former lead Ellen Pompeo in a reduced capacity.
Season 20 also marked a major shakeup behind the camera, with Meg Marinis stepping up as a new showrunner, replacing Krista Vernoff. Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes praised her commitment in an official statement, saying her “storytelling is a gift that continues to keep the show vibrant, compelling and alive, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for next season.”

]]>The post 3 Things We Know About Season 19 of “Grey’s Anatomy” appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>Not much is known about the upcoming season of the hit medical drama, and we’re still midway through Season 18. According to ABC’s official statement, next season “will explore the ever-expanding world of modern medicine through the eyes of beloved returning and new characters.”
Meredith Grey is the beating heart of Grey’s Anatomy and this show simply wouldn’t work without her. Season 19 got a green light after the leading lady signed a new one-year deal to keep playing the show’s title character, and she’ll also return as one of the executive producers.
Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy isn’t designated as the final one, but there are signs that this series is nearing its swan song. Pompeo repeatedly mentioned that she’s thinking about bringing Grey’s Anatomy to an end, but nothing is confirmed just yet. It’s highly unlikely that the show would continue without her and she mentioned not wanting to do it without Shonda Rhimes.

]]>The post Ellen Pompeo in Early Talks to Return for Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>The network’s plans for Grey’s Anatomy are greatly dependent on Pompeo agreeing to return, considering she has been the only constant for the show through the years and also serves as a producer. The situation is trickier than it has been in the past as Pompeo mentioned in recent years that she feel the series should end soon.
And according to her recent interview with INSIDER, Pompeo feels even stronger about this now. “I’ve been trying to focus on convincing everybody that it should end,” she told the magazine.
Pompeo signed her most recent contract back in May but committed to appearing just in Season 18. Pompeo’s co-stars Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. both opted to ink multi-year deals. Wilson and Pickens Jr. are the only other remaining members of the original cast.
ABC’s wish to continue riding the Grey’s Anatomy wave isn’t surprising considering that the series continues to be its highest-rated scripted program even in its 18th season. The new episodes premiered in September, with more than six million viewers tuning in for each episode on average.

]]>Williams’s exit came as a shocker for the fans, and it was announced in a recent episode, “Look Up Child”. The upcoming episode “Tradition” will be his last, and it’s set to air on May 20th.
In an official statement announcing his departure, Williams thanked everyone who helped him on this journey and said she’s immensely proud of the work they’ve done over the years.
“I will forever be grateful for the boundless opportunities provided me by Shonda, the network, studio, fellow castmates, our incredible crew … As an actor, director and person, I have been obscenely lucky to learn so much from so many and I thank our beautiful fans,” said Williams.
Williams became a key member of the Grey’s Anatomy team in 2009, but this show hasn’t been the only thing keeping him busy. ]]>Well, don’t ask Sarah Drew to fill you in.
The actress left the medical series in its 14th season after her character, Dr. April Kepner, set off for a happy ending with her husband, Matthew.
The decision to leave was not Sarah’s but instead a plot sacrifice at the hands of creator Shonda Rhimes.
Since her exit last year, the 38 year old says she has not checked in with the happenings at Grey-Sloan Memorial…
“I haven’t been watching,” she told reporters at the 2018 Rape Foundation annual brunch in Beverly Hills. “You know, it’s a little painful to kind of go and watch your family move on without you.”
We hear you, Sarah.
That said, the actress says, “I wish everybody the best. I know they’re having a wonderful time.”
We hope the same is true for you!
